We are committed to helping you develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle and weight. Our program consists of visits with medical professionals that help you overcome your dietary, physical, and emotional barriers to successful weight loss. Many dietary approaches are reviewed as part of your program. The nurse practitioner and dietitian focus on creating a dietary approach that is right for you and maintainable over time.
We do accept most commercial insurances. However, we advise you first check with your insurance regarding deductibles and out of pocket costs that may need to be met first.
We currently are not accepting Medicare or Medicaid affiliated plans.
If joining the program from outside of our medical practice, you will need medical clearance from our physicians, prior to joining Step Ahead. Please bring your latest EKG, labs, annual physical and any other testing to your visit.
There are several medications approved by the FDA for weight loss purposes. We will review your medical history and lifestyle and see if these options are appropriate for you. However, our philosophy is that there is no "magic pill" for weight loss and the focus should always be on lifestyle changes.

As our wellness program is individualized there is no set schedule. However, we recommend weekly to bi-monthly visits initially. If you are on any appetite suppressants and or meal replacement, routine visits are required.
There is no requirement to utilize meal replacements, however, we have Optifast/Numetra products available as an option. If you choose to include them in your wellness journey, these products are available at an additional cost.
We do require a minimum of 24-hour notice for any cancellations. If this is not met, a $25 fee will be charged. We understand that missed appointments can occur for a variety of reasons. But, when you cancel or miss at the last minute, that is an appointment another patient could have had. Multiple offenses will result in being discharged from our practice. We respect your time, we expect the same in return.
